AMUA is currently developing a new program for artists who would like to concentrate in special effects makeup for film and television. This new program, entitled “Special Effects Makeup Artist Program” will be offered for the first time January 5- May 22, 2015.
Ben Rittenhouse, our Special Effects Program Director, will also be instructing. Ben is a graduate of the Art Institute in Pittsburg and an Emmy Award winning makeup artist (The Pacific, 2010). Ben Specializes in Special Effects makeup, prop making, prosthetics and has cultivated a successful and tenured career in the entertainment industry. Some of his recent projects include: Star Trek, Hunger Games, Avatar, Anchorman, Hangover 3, CSI, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe, Kill Bill: Vol 1&2, Hulk, RIPD, Grey’s Anatomy, The Mist, Hostel, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Hills Have Eyes, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and Sin City.

AMUA is the only makeup school in the southeast to offer a program like this. This program will accept only 10 students per session, and two sessions will be offered each year. Students are advised to apply early to get into this exclusive program.
