Tell us what you’ve been doing since your time at AMUA.
I graduated from the freelance program at AMUA in December 2016. Since then I’ve worked on a music video here in Nashville, and became the lead makeup artist for an online digital magazine. In April I went to Los Angeles with Big City Thoughts magazine and got the opportunity to work with a few celebrities. It was such a great experience and I learned a ton.
What’s the dream?
As far as my dreams go I feel like they are so big it’s hard to condense them into a small paragraph. In the nearest future, I hope to become a full time production makeup artist. Being in LA made me realize how much I enjoy being on set and traveling for makeup. I love the idea of seeing my creativity come to life on the screen. In the distant future, I aim to transition to the business side of makeup arts by doing something such as creating and owning my own makeup line or possibly even teaching.
What advice would you give an aspiring make up artist?
My advice to anyone who wants to become a makeup artist: Learn. Put yourself out there and do it. Say yes to the gigs that will make you feel out of your element, because you never know who you’ll meet or what you can learn from it.
