April Recap – hard at work

Guest Artist Kelsey Husch

We loved having Kelsey Husch come and chat with our students early in April! Kelsey is the lead wig and makeup technician for KA Cirque De Soleil. Follow her on Instagram here to see her incredible work!

Students and Alumni are hard at work!

AMUA students and alumni are hard at work finding jobs while wrapping up this semester of classes!

Several AMUA students are styling wigs for Mary Poppins for the Nashville Rep production from April 28-May 8!

Constance and Molly were hired for summer internships at Glimmerglass Opera Festival. They got this opportunity via their attendance at USITT!

Lily worked on Shrek for the Nashville Children’s Theatre, while Macy and Caroline created Day of the Dead makeups for a PBS production!

Loryn and Zack worked together on ‘Sunday in the Park‘ at the Manhattan School of Music, while Zack also worked on the musical ‘Suffs‘ at the Newman Theatre in NYC.

Rebecca, Layne, and Aliyah were HIRED at Animax Designs! Congratulations!

Molly worked on Rigoletto for the Nashville Opera, and will work on Rheingold in May under Sondra Nottingham!

Discussions with Ben and Michael

School Director and Wig Instructor Michael Meyer and Special Effects Instructor Ben Rittenhouse sat down together with current students to talk about how they got into the industry. While there is always an open conversation about this during class, it’s always helpful to get an in-depth look into ways of getting started. Being an artist isn’t easy, which is why we love our AMUA network and that starts with our instructors!

Looking Ahead

Last day of classes is May 27th! While we’re already starting to miss our graduating students, we’re even more excited about their next steps in their journey to becoming the artists they’re meant to be! Celebrate their success with us at the Portfolio Review and Graduation on June 3rd (more details to come).
