AMUA recently participated in Hauntcon 2017 held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville, TN. As you might imagine, this type of trade show convention was full of interesting exhibits, creepy creatures roaming about, and nerve-wracking noises. In addition to all the haunting fun, we had the pleasure of meeting several haunt owners, managers, actors, merchandise vendors, noted artists, and other haunt enthusiasts from all over the country. Many were elated to learn about the opportunities to train at AMUA and were excited to take the information back to their teams.

While viewing the AMUA portfolio of work, several haunt owners expressed an interest purchasing a variety of the one-piece foam latex appliances which were created by students- this means our students have successfully created a product for which there is a demand. That’s awesome!

Networking and establishing new connections is vital to establishing a successful career in the makeup arts. We learned the haunt industry is worldwide and opportunities for work are year-round, not just limited to October.

Thank you to AMUA SFX graduates, Parker Elliott and Katie Weathers for performing live demonstrations of “haunting makeup” on current SFX student (models), Rebecca Garland and Callie Ford at Hauntcon 2017.
