As we’re settling into the current normal, we’re ready to announce a few upcoming events at the AMUA Nashville! FYI, you’ll need an RSVP or a Ticket (and a face covering) to attend these events.

May 14 – Sneak Peek Day

Curious about our school? Visit us for Spring Sneak Peek Day at AMUA! Come in and experience a day in the life of an AMUA student where you can interact with our students in a live classroom environment and get all your questions answered face-to-face (mask to mask) with our amazing team!  At Sneak Peek Day, we’ll first give a presentation about Academy of Make Up Arts where we’ll explore the different programs and courses available to you.

June 11 – Open House

Students will display their portfolios and projects on Friday June 11, 2021 from 1-4 pm for the public to view the work we do here at Academy of Make Up Arts in Nashville. Character sketches, sculptures, portfolio photographs, molds, models, props, and wigs they’ve created will be on display. Members of our staff and student volunteers will be present to answer your questions about their work or about what it’s like to attend the AMUA.

June 11 – Spring 2021 Graduation (Friends & Family of Graduates only)

Students who’ve completed their training this Spring will display their portfolios and projects on Friday June 11, 2021 from 7-9 pm as we celebrate their graduation. At graduation, students will display character sketches, sculptures, portfolio photographs, molds, models, props, and wigs they’ve created for their family and friends to see.

June 7-11 – Movie Magic Makeup Camp

Through interactive and hands-on training students will learn how to create realistic bruises, injuries, frostbite, and old age on themselves. By the end of the week, our creative campers will put their imaginations and special effects skills to work by designing and creating their very own zombie!

June 14-18 – Blood & Gore Camp with Ben Rittenhouse

Blood and Gore FX WorkshopThis camp is graphic and not appropriate for all ages! Students will create realistic horror effects like zombie bites and slit-throats. These effects are great for film and television scenes where blood oozes and gushes from victims.

July 12-16 – Matrix Molds Camp with Ben Rittenhouse

picture of a matrix mold of a human headIn this workshop, we will be creating an advanced matrix mold. Artists of any medium can learn to make a production mold of a sculpture in order to reproduce rigid items (resin, stone, pewter). An easy way to reproduce and sell your favorite creations! What’s a matrix mold? It’s a mold with a rigid outer shell and flexible material (silicone) between shell and sculpture allowing the artist to cast rigid copies of a sculpture.
