Madison Frie – Class of 2019

Madison Frie, Recent AMUA Grad

Our recent graduate Madison Frie, who completed all 3 of our programs plus an animatronics pilot program, moved to New York City in early February and has already landed a great industry position!

“Since moving to New York I got a job working at Hero Hair  Which is a wig shop focusing in cosplay and film and television,” Madison told us recently. “I also just finished up a movie in Nashville that I did special effects for.  I’m trying to do as many photoshoots and freelance gigs to build my portfolio and get my name out there!”

Congratulations Madison! We take great pride in the success of our alumni.

Anatomy of Cinema: How Movies Move Us

A four-part film seminar at The Belcourt Theatre

Led by faculty members of Vanderbilt University’s Cinema & Media Arts Program

Full Seminar Pass: $85/$70 (Belcourt member)

When we watch a film, the experience washes over us. We pay attention to the story and recognize its effect, but we may not notice the techniques that move us—the underlying anatomy that makes up every film. In a series of four two-hour sessions, Vanderbilt faculty members in cinema and media arts lead interactive discussions on film technique and the aesthetic experience of the moving image.
Seminar sessions will progress and build on each other.  We’ll watch clips and discuss techniques within the context of film history, genre, and the key movements that revolutionized how a film could be made and watched.  Each session is on a Tuesday, 7-9pm, in the Belcourt’s second floor Jackson Education and Engagement Space.
