Madame Butterfly appeared on stage at the Nashville Opera on October 19-20, and we are proud to say that AMUA alumni and current students worked together behind the scenes of the production!

Japanese geisha Cio-Cio-San, Butterfly, abandons her faith and family for the dashing American sailor, Lieutenant Pinkerton. But Pinkerton’s love is temporary and Butterfly’s happiness, short-lived. In the end, Cio-Cio-San pays the ultimate price for her selfless devotion. For more than a century, audiences have been thrilled by Giacomo Puccini’s haunting, music and touched by Butterfly, who sacrifices everything for love.

Jennifer Ortiz, 2017 AMUA Alum of The Complete Track shares: “I’m happy that AMUA provide us with the amazing girls to help. It made our work a lot smoother I hope they learned a lot. It was fun getting to know and working along side of them.”

Lillian Howard, a current Wig & Hair Design student, has a similar behind-the-scenes story: “What an amazing time working with the Nottingham Design team on the production of Madame Butterfly. Experiencing what it takes to bring a masterpiece to life was truly eye opening and rewarding!  AMUA has done a stellar job in preparing and partnering us with mentors that we will now have for life.”

And a big shout out to our other alumni and students who worked behind the scenes at this incredible opera: Carson Pack, Faith McLane, Julia Gallimore, Sam Ulicny, Taylor Martin, Cheyenne Fox and Madison Frie!
