We’re having a hard time believing that we’re already a month into classes! Our students are thriving and learning so much about beauty, special effects, wig making, photography, drawing, and sculpting. They are working on the makeup, scheduling, and directing their photoshoots to show off their work. And the results are FANTASTIC. But that’s not all! Because success in school is never enough for our driven students. Outside of the classroom, we’ve already completed wigs for the first show in our live theatrical lineup! And we have a packed fall season ahead of us.
Read on to get your tickets for the shows our students are working on, see how their photoshoots are going, and RSVP to our fun events!
Student Photoshoots
While our instructors schedule specific photoshoots for our students based on the project’s due dates, there is some leeway for a few of the projects. We love giving our students a little extra freedom when it comes to coming up with photoshoot ideas for projects like the frostbite makeup in Special Effects I. For the frostbite look, some students floated in the water while others huddled outside because they got locked out of their cars in a blizzard. All the students who modeled were troopers in acting like it was below freezing while we were having a record heat wave!
Students at Work!
Our fall is jam-packed with theatrical productions! Check out everything our students are already signed up to work on and keep checking back in to see updates on which of our students are leading productions. Some of the projects we have lined up are already selling out!
- 48 Hour Film Fest: This year, we had five students/alumni join teams and compete in the 48 Hour Film Festival – a weekend of adrenaline, caffeine, and creativity… leading to a completed film! Viewings of the films will be September 13th and 14th. There is always the possibility of one of our alumni or students winning a Best Makeup Award. Please keep your fingers crossed for Lilah, Jazlyn, Katie, Ryanne, and Capri!
- 9-5 with The Nashville Rep: Our current student, Lydia, is the Rep’s wig intern for this production of Dolly Parton’s musical 9-5! Then all of our Wig I students worked hard on styling their first round wigs, and they absolutely nailed it. It’s not too late to get tickets for showtimes starting September 8th through 17th.
- Smoke with the Bell Witch Festival: Our students are already excited for Halloween, and who isn’t all about spooky season?? Get your tickets for September 28th through October 7th for the first production of the Bell Witch Festival. Our current student, Skyler, has been hired as the stage manager for this production!
- Spirit with the Bell Witch Festival: Right after Smoke, make sure you see Spirit from October 19th through 28th!
- Pride and Prejudice with Hendersonville High School: One of our students, Katie, will be working with our costume instructor on any wigs needed for this production. Dates and details to come!
- Hello Dolly with Belmont: We already know that about 20 wigs are needed for this Belmont production! Get ready to see a ton of our student work November 16th through 19th.
- A Christmas Carol with The Nashville Rep: Get ready for this Charles Dickens classic! Find more info about the show here.
Halloween Zombie Camp
This year, we’re so excited to have alumni, Capri, leading our Halloween Zombie Camp October 13th and 14th. This two day camp during Nashville’s Fall Break is a perfect time to learn all the techniques High Schoolers need to know to turn themselves into the creepiest of zombies for Halloween. Zombie campers will creep away with a Mehron All-Pro Makeup Kit ($120 value), instruction, and photos for your portfolio.
