September Newsletter – Let’s Get Down to Business

We're having a hard time believing that we're already a month into classes! Our students are thriving and learning so much about beauty, special effects, wig making, photography, drawing, and sculpting. They are working on the makeup, scheduling, and directing their photoshoots to show off their work. And the results are FANTASTIC. But that's not all! Because success in school is never enough for our driven students. Outside of the classroom, we've already completed wigs for the first show in our live theatrical lineup! Make-up Artist Magazine Visited AMUA Nashville!

What a FANTASTIC evening at AMUA Saturday night! Make-Up Artist Magazine publisher and creator of IMATS, Michael Key, captivated all those in attendance with the story of how Make-Up Magazine started 20 years ago. He also held a round table discussion with the current editors of Richard Corson's 11th Edition of "Stage Make-up" (due out Feb 2018). AMUA Special Effects Makeup Headlines Tennessee Performing Arts Center Event

AMUA Special Effects Makeup Program Director, Ben Rittenhouse and program alumni Colter Wilson and Faith McLane, were featured at the Art of Special Effects Makeup event held at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center alongside other area Makeup artists. The AMUA team transformed Nashville Ballet dancer, Nicolas Scheuer, into an Underworld-inspired vampire in front of a packed theater audience of local and regional professionals. The Academy of Make Up Arts is now enrolling for the THIRD ANNUAL MOVIE MAGIC FX SUMMER CAMP! Elizabeth Romano Places 3rd in IMATS New York Battle of the Brushes!

Congratulations to AMUA Advanced Program Graduate, Elizabeth Anne Romano of Saranac Lake, NY for earning third place at IMATS New York's Battle of the Brushes. Key Publishing Group, known for Makeup Artist Magazine and International Makeup Artist Trade Show (IMATS) chooses only eight students from professional makeup schools around the world to compete in this exciting competition.
