For 26 years IMATS Battle of the Brushes has been challenging students and recent graduates to go above and beyond to create incredible makeup looks. After a short hiatus, the challenge is back in LA! So to get you all excited, we’re remembering all of our students and graduates who competed and won at the IMATS Battle of the Brushes competition. Remember that this is an international competition, so you’ll be competing with the best worldwide AND have the opportunity to compete around the globe!

Our Battle of the Brushes Alumni:

Allie Corzine graduated from the Advanced Makeup Artist Program in March 2017. She was selected as one of eight finalists to compete at IMATS Battle of the Brushes New York in April where she took second place. She was selected again to compete at IMATS Battle of the Brushes in Sydney, Australia where she took first place with an improved version of the first design.

Erica Faith was the only American competitor at the Australian IMATS Battle of the Brushes in November of 2016 right after graduating from the Special Effects Program earlier in 2016.

Faith McLane is a Veteran of the United States Military and attended the Academy of Makeup Arts with the Post 9/11 GI Bill. She competed in 2015 after graduating from our Special Effects program. Faith returned to AMUA as an instructor and has been a huge inspiration to our students!

Masha France graduated from AMUA in 2015 and also competed in IMATS Battle of the Brushes that same year!

McKenzie Gregg earned second place in IMATs Battle of the Brushes 2013 in the Beauty and Fantasy competition, then went back to apply a demo makeup at our booth and cheer on Lizzie Romano in 2014’s New York competition. Gregg returned to AMUA for the Special Effects program in 2015 and competed in the Special Effects at the 2016 LA competition as well!

Char Braden was the first contestant from Tennessee to compete in IMATS Battle of the Brushes in 2011! She was one of our first graduates to compete.

Elaina Dilts graduated from our Advanced Makeup Program in 2018 and placed second in the Atlanta Battle of the Brushes that same year.

Brittany Goodrich graduated from AMUA’s Advanced Makeup Artist Program in March of 2016 and competed at IMATS in LA in 2017!

Lizzie Romano graduated from our Advanced Program and earned third place at IMATS New York’s Battle of the Brushes in 2014!

Abbey Minor graduated from the Advanced Makeup Artist Program in December of 2016 and competed at IMATS in LA in 2017

Current students and recent graduates now is the time to apply for this fun opportunity! We’ve had so many students compete and create some really astonishing work. Each competition has a different theme, so you’ll see varying designs from every competitor from year to year. This year the Special Effects theme is Tim Burton Characters, while the Beauty/Fantasy theme is 1980s Beauty!

The deadline to submit your entries is December 1st!
