Alumni Spotlight: Jordan Nicole

1. Tell us a little about what you’ve been working on since your time at AMUA

Since attending The AMUA I have had lots of exciting opportunities working as a freelance makeup artist. Some of my favorite jobs have been working the Mercedes Benz fashion week in New York, being the head of the beauty department for a feature film, doing hair and makeup for Levy’s spring and fall catalog, working the Carolina Herrera fashion show at the Symphony Center, and multiple commercials. I am working currently for MHD Cosmetics as a makeup artist for weddings and special events.

2. What’s your dream?

My dream is to be able to work in multiple areas of Makeup full time and hopefully one day have a couple of celebrity clients that can’t live with out me! No, but seriously my favorite thing about being a makeup artist is the client’s reaction right after you finish a makeup. They feel beautiful and you can see their confidence build. It’s a great feeling. I am hoping one day to be able to help women of abuse or recovering addicts realize their inner beauty, in turn helping them get on their feet and be able to find jobs.

3. What advice would you give to a new aspiring makeup artist?

Don’t be discouraged by constructive criticism. It is hard to hear that something you are super proud of may not be up to others standards but listen to their advice, it may help you more than you think!
