October Newsletter – Spooky Season is Upon Us

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for makeup artists, wig makers, and costume designers: Spooky Season. And with how hard our students work, we won’t pull any punches this October! So, read on to see what we’re up to this month, and also find out how you can book a student or alumni for your Halloween makeup this year.

Zombie Camp

This two day camp during Nashville’s Fall Break is a perfect time to learn all the techniques High Schoolers need to know to turn themselves into the creepiest of zombies for Halloween. Zombie campers will creep away with a Mehron All-Pro Makeup Kit ($120 value), instructions, and photos for your portfolio

Instructor Spotlight

Join us this October in supporting our special effects instructor, Ben Rittenhouse, as he exhibits his creative mind in Oddities from the Vault at Modfellows Art Gallery!

We love seeing our instructors continue to develop their creativity and show off their work. This is Ben’s first show in Nashville, showcasing work from his most recent series, ODDities. Ben takes the weird and wonderful from the mundane and brings it to life in sculptures in the most curious manner. Ben previously showcased work in L.A. – not including his filmwork which ranges from Kill Bill, Narnia, Hannibal, and the HBO mini-series, The Pacific, for which he won an Emmy Award.

There will be an opening night reception on October 6th from 5-8pm, so come on out to Modfellows to support Ben!

Student Spotlight

Congratulations are in order to our current student Lilah! Lilah competed on a team at this year’s 48 Hour Film Project and won Best SFX Makeup for her hard work! We’re so proud of the hard work she puts into her schoolwork as well as her growing experience in the industry and we love to see all that work paying off. Round of applause to Lilah and the team that created the film Unit 129!
