How To Tell If Makeup Is “Professional”

The cosmetics industry has changed a lot in the last couple of decades. Our grandmothers had much fewer options. There was inexpensive drug store makeup on one end, and on the other, limited luxury brands like Chanel. Since my time at AMUA, I have been working in all areas of makeup from Tv/Film, production, weddings, and teaching. My dream is to do big advertisement campaigns and commercial shoots, as well as major editorials. My advice that I would give to a new artist is that when you first get started, maintain a main income. There is so much to learn about this industry and blowing up overnight probably will not happen. So take your time, figure out which direction you want to go in, and stay educated. AMUA Alum Allie Corzine Takes 1st Place at IMATS Sydney 2017

We've been so busy making progress, we might have failed to mention our Allie Corzine took first place at IMATS Sydney last month! Allie graduated from the Advanced Makeup Artist Program in March 2017. She was selected as one of eight finalists to compete at IMATS Battle of the Brushes New York in April where she took second place. That's not enough for this girl! She was selected again to compete at IMATS Battle of the Brushes in Sydney, Australia where she took first place with an improved version of the first design. Way to go, Allie!
