Alumni Spotlight: Raelynn Stephens

Tell us a little about what you’ve been doing since your time and AMUA

Since my time at AMUA I have been busy working with local modeling agencies. It has been incredibly fun building relationships in an industry that I could not have imagined being a part of a year ago. Being relatively new to the makeup world, it has been extremely gratifying to see my work in the portfolios of models and photographers that I truly respect and even a few small publications. While the majority of my work has been fashion shoots and shows, I have also had my share of brides and pageant queens as well as a music video. However, I enjoy the fashion world most. In this field it is okay to color outside the lines and that is what really excites me!

What’s the dream?

It is my goal to continue to grow as an artist, stepping further and further out of my comfort zone with each client. My dream is to hone my craft so well that it leaves a lasting impression; I want to leave my ‘beauty mark’ on the world. My hope is to eventually have my own makeup studio where I can live out my dream on a larger scale.

What advice would you give to an aspiring make up artist?

My advice to aspiring makeup artists is do not let fear hold you back and do not let the word “No” discourage you. Make like a 1950’s lipstick and be bold!
