1. Tell us a little about what you’ve been working on since your time at AMUA.

Since I graduated in 2014, I’ve been living the dream. All I ever wanted to do was makeup and make women and men feel empowered and beautiful. I’ve went on to work on a lot of photo shoots and fashion shows. My passion is fashion. In February 2015, I got the amazing opportunity to work at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City as well as New York Couture Fashion and Style Fashion Week. I’ve been going back ever since.

Currently, I’ve been doing photoshoot after photoshoot and freelancing for MAC Cosmetics on the side.

2. What’s your dream?

I want to work on the set of some major runway shows like Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Alexander McQueen. Also, meeting and learning from Pat McGrath would be amazing. She’s one of my inspirations.

I’d also really want to develop my own line of cosmetics that focuses on natural and clean beauty.

3. What advice would you give to a new aspiring makeup artist?

Put yourself out there! I didn’t sit and wait for all my gigs come to me when I started out. I got my name out there by messaging and calling photographers asking to test. When you’re brand new, focus on the image and not the money. Money is important, but that will come once you have a great portfolio.

Also, practice, practice, practice. And when you think you’ve learned it all, practice some more. Once you start playing with different textures and different techniques, you’ll be unstoppable. Take some fine art classes. Learn about color theory. We’re makeup *artists*.
