AMUA student lands first wig designer role

"The characters felt so real that it gave me a sense of pride to give them a life that exists beyond the confines of a page." Taylor Martin came to AMUA last summer to jump start her career with The Complete Track. Last fall, she completed The Art of Wig & Hair Design. Taylor is now in charge of designing the wigs for an upcoming show at Belmont University School of Theater & Dance called "The Man of Mode." AMUA works on Nashville Opera’s Madame Butterfly

Madame Butterfly appeared on stage at the Nashville Opera on October 19-20, and we are proud to say that AMUA alumni and current students worked together behind the scenes of the production! Japanese geisha Cio-Cio-San, Butterfly, abandons her faith and family for the dashing American sailor, Lieutenant Pinkerton. But Pinkerton's love is temporary and Butterfly's happiness, short-lived. In the end, Cio-Cio-San pays the ultimate price for her selfless devotion. For more than a century, audiences have been thrilled by Giacomo Puccini's haunting, music and touched by Butterfly, who sacrifices everything for love. Our newest project: 3D Printing and Animatronics

We have some exciting news to share! AMUA is starting to work with students on 3D Printing and Animatronics.  Sooo... what's that?  One of our students, Madison, is test piloting the upcoming program and explains: "Essentially, I am building a full body monster equipped with an animatronic head, prosthetic chest, back and arms. Coming into this [test] program I knew the bare minimum about anything in the world of animatronics and 3D printing and now almost two months in I’m already making hefty progress on designing and building all the mechanisms needed to bring my design to life.
