Alumni Stories – Elizabeth Wolf

We love hearing what alumni have been up to since they graduated from AMUA because they end up doing really amazing things! Here is a snapshot of a graduate and her job. I was already building my career prior to enrolling at AMUA, but I didn’t feel like I was a true professional without schooling. I noticed that sometimes when I told clients I didn’t have a certification, they would get uneasy. I wanted a formal education so I could confidently say, “I am a professional makeup artist.” By joining AMUA, I now have credentials under my belt. AMUA also…

Q&A with Liz Crout

Liz completed our Special Effects program. She currently works as a curator at a wax museum. This is what Liz has to say about her experience at AMUA. Q: What sparked your interest in AMUA’s special effects program? A: I was most interested in the AMUA because it was close to my home, but after visiting and a lot of praying I knew it would be better than traveling West where most of the other makeup effects schools were and I liked the smaller learning environment. Q: How do you use the techniques learned in class in your work life…

1. Tell us a little about what you've been working on since your time at AMUA As soon as I graduated in December, I got hired in Knoxville to do a short film titled "Inside Out" and that launched my business to the next level. Alumni Spotlight: Char Braden

Since my time at AMUA, I have been working in all areas of makeup from Tv/Film, production, weddings, and teaching. My dream is to do big advertisement campaigns and commercial shoots, as well as major editorials. My advice that I would give to a new artist is that when you first get started, maintain a main income. There is so much to learn about this industry and blowing up overnight probably will not happen. So take your time, figure out which direction you want to go in, and stay educated.
