Alumni Spotlight: Kella Groves
Kella Groves Makeup Artist Nashville

Academy of Makeup Arts Alumni Kella Groves produced an impressive amount of work since her graduation a few short months ago. Immediately after graduating from the Makeup for TV & Film Program in March, she won “Best Makeup” in the 54 Hour Film Fest for the short film titled “Diamond in the Rough”. After that, she applied makeup for more competition films, such as “Gatlinburg” by Broken Entertainment in Knoxville, TN.  Along with a series pilot “Troll Hunters” by Stormlight Pictures in Nashville, TN. Both films screen at the Knoxville Film Fest this September.

Along with working for the Nashville Knights during their inaugural season, she also worked with award-winning jazz vocalist Kat Farnham on a music video shot at Blackbird Studio in Nashville.

Kella tells us she recently completed the movie “Pusher”, an East TN-based film about the opioid epidemic in Appalachia. “I contracted with Amphora Pictures based out of Atlanta for this film. I even earned my first wardrobe credit. It is being submitted to the Sundance Film Festival among many others. I also have worked on the web series Stolen Season by Director Rob Simpson out of Knoxville TN.”

Kella travels to North Carolina in October to work on her first feature film!

Congratulations on all your success, Kella!
